Dr. Sebastian Fleischmann joined the Vaillant Group in 2017 as data scientist and took over the responsibility as Head of Data Science and Solutions in 2022. There, he is responsible for a team of data scientist and data engineer, who analyze IoT and enterprise data for intelligent energy management systems and service solutions. The team builds and operates analytics solutions to make the products and services of Vaillant Group even more energy efficient and customer friendly, e.g. by forecasting and optimizing the energy demands of heating systems, recommending spare parts required for repair work and preventive maintenance. He has been developing algorithms for data analysis and using machine learning methods for over 15 years. As a particle physicist, he obtained his Ph.D. as a member of the ATLAS collaboration at the CERN research center, where he was particularly active in software development and the analysis of large amounts of data using parallel computing and machine learning. At the energy company E.ON, he developed methods for forecasting failure risks of components in the medium-voltage grid for predictive replacement and investment planning, among other things.
"The Pop in My Job":
Data science is the exact opposite of "working in a quiet little room": Cross-departmental collaboration is hugely important and allows us to constantly learn new things from each other, both technologically, project-specifically and entrepreneurially.
