Jens Markgraf has a Controlling background and worked in different DAX companies in Controlling departments and projects. Those projects were always very closely linked to business intelligence solutions and that lead to the current position, where he is now the teamlead of a 5 headed business intelligence controlling team at Vonovia. This team consists of back- and frontend developers for SAP BW and a data scientist working on predictive analytics topics.
The team provides data solutions to enable the operational controlling and the operational business to steer their business based on reliable data. Driven from the past, the issue of data management was very closely linked to this team, but the usage of the data was more and more pushed throughout the whole company. This new era of data usage, brought several challenges in the organization of data structure and data governance. Different projects were started within the company to support the challenges and to implement a new data strategy and mindset.

In my job I want to deliver solutions, where our business is able to take advantage of reliable data. Lot of open business questions are not fully answered based on data. In my mind, data driven decision making is key for long-term success. Nowadays data is a product and should be made available for everyone in the company.
Data must be available, transparent and reliable, so that everyone can benefit from it. Manual data wrangling and wrong interpretation of data must be avoided.
Finding the right data solutions, that fits the need of our customers is a big challenge, but also a lot of fun. Topics like Gen AI will have a big impact in the future and me and my team are searching for ways to implement it and benefit from those new technologies.
